Victoria University, enter partnership with Basketball body

Sports has increasingly become a clear cut source of income to millions of young people around the World and back in Uganda more youths are steadily embracing several sporting disciplines among them basketball.

To this effect both Victoria University and the federation of Uganda basketball Association (FUBA) have signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with a view that the education giant helps train  more people interested in this exclusive sport and earn a living in future.

The ceremony took place at Victoria were the two sides agreed to promote the training, skilling and developing the profession among the categories of players, coaches, administrators and managers with a view that the sector is elevated to the next level of development.

The University academic registrar Katushabe Ssemwezi pledged that his facility would offer more scholarships to talented students in this particular discipline as a reward and boost to their professional standing.

He noted that they have an attractive scholarship package to students joining their institution ranging from best personalities in fields of sports, academics, entertainment among others were over 30% is slashed off tuition.

Nassar Sserunjogi the federation president welcomed the gesture from the Varsity saying the cooperation would further strengthen the profession and enable them build strong pillars of this lucrative profession largely seen by many as a sport for the corporate community.

“We wholeheartedly thank the vice Chancellor Dr.Krishna N .Sharma  with his team for strategically arriving at such a timely gesture of promoting basketball profession in the country and we strongly believe that the intentions would be implemented for the good of the profession “ noted Sserunjogi.
