KAMPALA: Higher institutions of learning have been urged to invest more resources in orienting their guild leaders with skills of mobilization in sectors like resources, research, innovation and networking for positive outcomes.
The call has been made by the Vice Chancellor Victoria University Dr.Krishna N.Sharma while inaugurating his new guild leaders council led by Mark Serebe.
He said many guild councils are put in place but are not exposed to exclusive leadership orientation skills that help build confidence and courage to be able to reason and make sound decisions acceptable to many.
The outgoing guild president Maria Peggy Nabunya commended the management for the opportunity to serve the student community and also used the opportunity to encourage the incoming guild team to continue guiding the student population to achieve positive future returns.
‘We would like to thank the management of this great University for giving us an opportunity to serve the student community of which venture was interesting and educative as we learnt new governance protocols that we shall use in guiding us through the future’, noted Nabunya.
The incoming boss Mark Serebe thanked the students for entrusting them with this important office saying they would do their best to build strong linkages across board and ensure the mandate before them is effectively implemented.
‘ We would like to extend our sincere heartfelt gratitude to our loving VC for giving us an opportunity to stand on this leadership podium because many do aspire for it but never access an opportunity but we thank God for this gift of leadership’ he observed.
