The political opposition in the country has strongly warned that if the NRM ruling party and the electoral commission attempt to manipulate the 2021 general elections in any way possible they risk tough consequences from the population.
The warning has been sounded by the Justice forum (JEEMA) political party president Asuman Basalirwa during the official unveiling ceremony of their national task coordinators numbering 132 that was held at their headquarters in Mengo Lubaga division.
Basalirwa also MP for Bugiri told the guests that he would be surprised if president Museveni shall return as president come 2021 because the people power force has capacity to throw him out of power.
“Am confident that if the entire opposition forces united with a single common message to the voters without contradiction, that thrust of unity can effectively edge the Museveni administration out of power come 2021” stressed Basalirwa.
He insisted that Ugandans under the new people power arrangement have the capacity to throw Museveni out of power irrespective of the huge financial muscle he has at his disposal because it has happened elsewhere here in the world.
Basalirwa noted that the opposition need to give people messages of hope and confidence by assuring them that if they all turned out on polling day and voted for their candidate, he was very sure they would score success at end of the exercise.
The president of the national transformation alliance (NTC) Maj.Gen.Mugisha Muntu who attended the colourful event said it was important that the united opposition should build efforts towards building honesty, trust and transparency among its ranks as a delibarate strategy to uproot the NRM dictatorship.
Muntu congratulated JEEMA leadership for unveiling the strong team saying they need to consolidate those responsibilities because the state machinery would swiftly move to obstruct their activities.
