Vikings Release All-Pro Cornerback Xavier Rhodes

By our reporter

Former Vikings Cornerback Xavier Rhodes will be looking for a new home this offseason after Minnesota decided to release the All-Pro defender to clear cap space.

The shutdown defensive back dealt with lower-body injuries all last season and given the size of his contract (5 years $70 million according to ESPN) the Vikings found it better to part ways with the Pro Bowler.

Had Rhodes stayed with the team in the upcoming season, he would’ve earned $9.9 million in salary according to NBC Sports. The injuries set the 29-year-old back a bit last season and noticeably not living up to the contract he earned years prior. If Rhodes can get back to full health, he would be an asset to almost any team.
