BetPawa donates food,  As TopBet hands over Vehicle to Covid-19

As many companies, individuals and organisations continue responding to the appeal by the president to donate towards fighting the corona virus pandemic, the project which government estimates to cost 170Bn/= is steadily picking up.

BetPawa Uganda which is the country’s leading betting powerhouse through their umbrella body of the Uganda bookmakers and gaming Association (UBMGA) has been commended by government for strongly coming out and making a worthwhile donation befitting their status.


The body donated 23 tonnes of high quality maize flour and 3 tonnes of beans to the Covid19 fund while TopBet separately donated  a brand new Nissan hard body pickup truck respectively.

THE FOOD IS HERE;Officials from the Association handing over their food donation to  minister Okurut in kitengi while on left is Eng.Katongole who heads the fund.

The fund political overseer and minister for general duties office of the prime minister Hon.Mary Karooro Okurut while receiving the donation recently in Kampala, thanked the delegation led by David Katisa from the Association saying the donation especially the pickup that donated by TopBet was in direct line of request by the president who urged big companies to donate 4×4 brand new vehicles.

The Minister explained that government understands the big role sports betting companies have been playing in terms of the lucrative increased revenue collection bar into the government coffers.

READY FOR COVID-19 WORK; The brand new Nissan hard body that TopBet donated separately to the fund recently.

Katisa told the fund team that their Association of betting services was the first casualty of the Covid19 pandemic as they closed shop on the 18th Match 2020 due to social distancing issues.

“ Hon. minister madame, we as the betting and gaming Industry became the first casualties to fall due to the Covid19 pandemic and since that time, we are  completely  out of business as we are  working from hone but nevertheless we decided to donate  something towards the fund as requested by the president “ noted Katisa.

He said their Association members includes among others sports betting, Bet power, Sports betting Africa, topBet, premier Bet, forte Bet and Beton respectively.
