Katanga leaders salute Minister Kafuuzi over Covid19 food donation

The leadership of the highly volatile and explosive community of Katanga has appreciated the recent Covid19 relief food donation the government gave them saying it was timely but unfortunately it is now over.


STATE DUTY; Minister Jackson Kafuuzi personally leads efforts to distribute relief food in Katanga recently.

The leaders who declined to be named told this website over the weekend that they particularly thank the presidential appointed Kawempe division Covid19 relief food political overseer Hon. Jackson Kafuuzi for exhibiting a high degree of sensitivity as the relief donation took place in that peninsular.

They noted that Hon.Kafuuzi who is the deputy minister for justice and constitutional affairs and deputy attorney general was smart and brave when he approached the highly sensitive community of Katanga.

TALLYING DISTRIBUTION PAPERS; Officials from Uganda Red Cross Society are busy tallying the distribution papers in Katanga recently.

The minister alongside a strong team of high ranking UPDF officers and Red cross staff took a deliberate decision to ensure that all households in the four villages of Kimwanyi, Busia,Katale and Soweto that make up Wandegeya parish in Kawempe division

Were effectively covered without leaving a single household without food.

Minister Kafuuzi who is Member of Parliament for Kyaka south constituency in Kyegegwa district told this website that he thanked God for guiding him and his team that enabled them spend a whole week busy distributing relief food in this highly populated community with over 30,000 locals.

Proscovia Kenema a local member of the catholic church community in Busia zone said the tactfully calculated operation by government officers to distribute exactly 6Kgs of posho and 3Kgs of beans alongside large tins of Lato powder milk and sugar to pregnant or breastfeeding mothers was strategic and politically paid off.

The LC1 boss of Kimwanyi zone popularly referred to as Katanga which is the business hub of this entire community Thomas Bagonza told this website that the entire food distribution operation was a complete success.

Hope of Katanga kids’ project which houses over 50 destitute children in Busia zone received a big consignment of food including posho, beans, milk and sugar which has boosted the livelihoods of these children largely picked from city streets with hope for the future.
