Minister Lokeris seeks new house office term in Karamoja

The state minister of minerals Dr.Peter Teko Lokeris has urged his voters top return him to parliament so that he can complete most of the key national projects that he had earlier on embarked on for the common good of that population.

He made the remarks last week while picking his nomination papers in Kampala to contest as MP for Chekwii in Nakapiripiriti district in the forthcoming NRM primaries.
Dr.Lokeris who has represented this constituency since 1996 told this website that he wants to finish all the projects that he has been implementing and is asking his voters to allow him this final term so that he can retire humbly after the next parliament.
He reportedly entered politics, contesting and winning the parliamentary seat of Chekwii County in Nakapiripirit district in 1996 and that same year ,he was appointed as Minister of State for Karamoja.
He maintained that position during a cabinet reshuffle on 13 January 2005. In 2006, he was re-elected to his parliamentary seat. On 1 June 2006, he was appointed as Minister of State for Primary Education. In another cabinet reshuffle, Peter Lokeris was appointed Minister of State for Minerals on 16 February 2009. Lokeris was re-elected as Member of Parliament for Chekwi County on 18 February 2011. In the cabinet reshuffle of 27 May 2011, he retained his cabinet post as State Minister for Minerals.
