Bugisu jams in celebration as Gidudu sails through as MP

The people of eastern Uganda especially Bugisuland are still jubilating after their very own son of the soil was reportedly declared as unopposed as the new MP -elect representing elderly persons for eastern region in the next august house.

The shocking development came to light last week hardly a day when Mr.Dominic Mafwabi Gidudu 72, had been dully nominated by the electoral commission to contest in the general election and it is reported that his opponents whom he trounced by 85%  decided to step down for him thus making him sail through unopposed.

The victory for Mr.Gidudu means a lot for the people of Eastern region as he shall use his influence with the president to actively lobby for key projects that bring about development in the land of Bamasaba and Eastern region in general.

Mr.Gidudu  who was  flanked by Col.Apuuli Brown, the national coordinator for the  social  economic program for elderly persons in state house  and Mr.Isaac Mafwabi Junior, told this website shortly after being nominated at the electoral commission headquarters in Kampala  that he was shocked to learn that he had sailed through unopposed and now becomes the official member of parliament representing the elderly persons for the eastern region in the next august house 2021/26.

STRIVING TO GO THROUGH THE HECTIC   SYSTEMS OF GETTING NOMINATED; Mr.Gidudu attending a meeting at the NRM electoral commission were they tried to harmonize their campaign programs early this year at Kyadondo.

He congratulated all his competitors who decided to step down in his favor saying that he would still go ahead to visit all the 40 districts and almost 9 municipalities in the region and thank all voters for their support despite having secured the sweet victory courtesy of his competitors of whom he equally thanked very much for showing politics of maturity.

Mr.Gidudu has been seen by political analysts as a big gun in these elections given his close connections with state house and also being the initiator of the parliamentary amendment bill that saw the creation of the five elective special interest groups’ house posts of which he has been lucky to become the unopposed pioneer MP thanks for his efforts.

For those that did not know Gidudu is that he is the current NRM central executive committee [CEC] representative for elderly persons for eastern region and also the chairperson of the national elderly league among other key offices of responsibility.

SEEKING LEADERSHIP; Candidate Gidudu in the middle is flanked by Mr.Isaac Mafwabi Junior on right while extreme left is Col. Apuuli Brown Patrick who is the national coordinator of the social economic development for older persons department in the office of the president.

Gidudu was addressing a news conference at the electoral commission offices along Jinja road last week shortly after being nominated. 

He promised to ensure that he teams up with other colleagues in the next house to drive the political agenda and interests of elderly persons of Uganda given that they have spent most of their livelihood paying taxes to government and that it was time for government to return some package to them in terms of offering them social services like medical, shelter and welfare to keep them alive as they await their day of meeting the almighty creator of the universe.
